Finding a women’s personal training program in Langley that actually fits your goals — not a generic template written for the average gym-goer — makes all the difference. At Vaughan’s Fitness, every program is built around you: your body, your schedule, your history, and your goals. Our trainers are university-degreed kinesiologists who understand how women’s physiology, hormones, and life stages affect training — and they design programs accordingly.
Whether you’re a new mom returning to exercise, a busy professional who wants to build strength without bulk, an athlete looking to optimize performance, or someone navigating perimenopause and wanting to stay strong and energetic — we’ve worked with women at every stage, and we know how to help.
Why Women’s Personal Training Is Different
The fitness industry has historically treated women’s programming as a scaled-down version of men’s training. That’s wrong — and it’s why so many women spin their wheels in gyms without seeing results. Women’s personal training, done well, accounts for several key differences:
- Hormonal cycles: Estrogen and progesterone fluctuate across the menstrual cycle and affect strength, recovery, energy, and injury risk. Kinesiologists can periodize training to work with your cycle, not against it.
- Bone density: Women are more susceptible to osteoporosis, especially post-menopause. Resistance training is one of the most powerful interventions for building and maintaining bone density.
- Pelvic floor considerations: Pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and pelvic floor dysfunction all affect how you should train — particularly with high-impact exercise and core loading.
- Body composition goals: Many women want to lose body fat and build lean muscle without “bulking up.” Achieving that specific look requires a precise combination of resistance training, nutrition, and cardio — not hours on the treadmill.
- Injury patterns: Women have higher rates of ACL tears, knee valgus, and hip instability. Kinesiologist-designed programming addresses these risk factors proactively.
At Vaughan’s Fitness in south Langley, our kinesiologists don’t just assign exercises — they understand the why behind every program decision.
What Women’s Personal Training at Vaughan’s Fitness Looks Like
Every new client starts with a comprehensive assessment. Your kinesiologist will look at your movement patterns, strength baselines, injury history, and goals before prescribing a single exercise. From there, you’ll get a periodized program built to progress you over weeks and months — not a random workout that resets every session.
Sessions take place in our private studio at 658 200th St in Langley. There’s no crowded gym floor, no waiting for equipment, and no one watching you struggle through a new exercise. It’s just you, your trainer, and a space designed for focused, effective training.
Common program types for women at VF include:
- Strength and muscle toning: Progressive resistance training to build lean muscle and increase metabolism, using compound lifts, accessory work, and periodized loading.
- Fat loss programs: Combination of resistance training and conditioning work, paired with nutritional guidance, to reduce body fat while preserving muscle. See our Ultimate Guide to Weight Loss with Personal Training.
- Postpartum fitness: Gradual return-to-exercise programming that respects pelvic floor healing, diastasis recti, and sleep deprivation. We work alongside your healthcare team when needed.
- Perimenopause and senior women’s fitness: Strength training to combat sarcopenia, balance work to prevent falls, and bone-loading exercises to support long-term skeletal health.
- Sport performance for female athletes: Speed, power, agility, and sport-specific conditioning for women competing at high school, university, or recreational levels.
- Active rehab and injury recovery: ICBC and WCB-approved kinesiology for women recovering from car accidents, workplace injuries, or chronic pain conditions.
The Kinesiologist Difference: More Than a Personal Trainer
Every trainer at Vaughan’s Fitness holds a university degree in kinesiology — the science of human movement. That distinction matters. While a certified personal trainer completes a weekend course, a kinesiologist has four-plus years of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and rehabilitation science under their belt.
For women, this means:
- Your program accounts for your hormonal health, not just your weight-loss goal
- If you have a pre-existing injury, your trainer knows how to work around — and through — it safely
- If your shoulder has been bothering you, your kinesiologist can assess movement dysfunction and address the root cause, not just avoid the shoulder
- If you’re post-surgical or post-accident, we’re ICBC and WCB approved and can provide medically recognized active rehabilitation
This is a level of expertise you won’t find at a commercial gym — and it’s why our clients see results that stick. We’ve been doing this since 2013, and we have a 5.0★ Google rating because our approach works.
Real Results: What Women Achieve at Vaughan’s Fitness
Our female clients come in with a wide range of goals — and they leave having hit them. Here are some of the transformations we’re most proud of:
- A postpartum mom who came in unable to do a single push-up and left six months later deadlifting her own bodyweight
- A 58-year-old teacher who reversed her osteopenia diagnosis through two years of consistent resistance training
- A recreational soccer player who reduced her knee pain, improved her lateral agility, and hasn’t been sidelined by injury in two seasons
- A 35-year-old professional who lost 22 lbs of body fat and gained significant lean muscle in under a year — without dieting obsessively or spending hours at the gym
- Female athletes who’ve gone on to compete at the university and provincial levels with help from our sport-specific programming
Results vary, but the pattern is consistent: personalized programming, consistent effort, and kinesiologist-level coaching produce outcomes that generic group classes and cookie-cutter plans simply can’t match.

Women’s Personal Training FAQ
Will strength training make me bulky?
No — and this is one of the most persistent myths in fitness. Women have significantly lower testosterone levels than men, which makes the kind of muscle mass associated with “bulkiness” very difficult to achieve without deliberate, long-term effort and specific nutrition. What strength training actually does for most women is increase lean muscle, reduce body fat, and create a leaner, more defined physique. If you’ve been avoiding weights because of this concern, it’s time to reconsider.
How often should women train with a personal trainer?
Most women see excellent results with 2–3 sessions per week. Consistency over months matters more than training frequency in any given week. Your kinesiologist will recommend a frequency based on your goals, schedule, and recovery capacity.
Can I train during my menstrual cycle?
Yes, and adjusting training to your cycle can actually improve results. Many women feel strongest in the follicular phase (days 1–14) and benefit from higher-intensity training then, while the luteal phase may call for slightly lower intensity and more focus on recovery. Your kinesiologist can incorporate this kind of periodization into your program if you’re interested.
Do you work with postpartum women?
Yes. Postpartum training requires careful attention to pelvic floor recovery, diastasis recti, and the physical demands of new motherhood (carrying, bending, sleep deprivation). Our kinesiologists build programs that respect where you are in your recovery while progressively building you back to — and beyond — your pre-pregnancy fitness. We recommend getting clearance from your healthcare provider before starting, and we’re happy to work alongside them.
Is personal training covered by ICBC or WCB?
If you’ve been in a car accident or have a workplace injury, your kinesiology-based active rehabilitation may be fully covered by ICBC or WCB. Vaughan’s Fitness is an approved provider for both. We direct bill, so you don’t pay out of pocket. Learn more on our ICBC active rehab page.
I’m in my 50s or 60s — is it too late to start strength training?
Absolutely not. Research consistently shows that women in their 50s, 60s, and beyond respond well to resistance training — building muscle, improving bone density, enhancing balance, and reducing injury risk. The only wrong time to start is never starting at all. Many of our most dedicated clients are in this age range, and their results are genuinely remarkable.
