Alyssa Theodore
Alyssa spent the majority of her childhood in many of the hockey arenas around the lower mainland. Alyssa was introduced to hockey through her father and younger brother; however, she loved the game but was too shy to play. Alyssa tried many other sports until she turned 13 when she finally stepped out of her comfort zone and onto the rink. She made AAA rep hockey in her third year of hockey and developed an understanding of the importance of dry land strength and conditioning training as it transfers to on-ice performance.
Alyssa continued to play league ice hockey in both men’s and women’s throughout high school and into university at the University of the Fraser Valley where she studied Kinesiology. Alyssa’s understanding of how her off ice training could improve or inhibit on ice performance sparked an interest in teaching others the most effective way to move for effective results. Alyssa also has international teaching experience where she travelled for 3 consecutive years to Antigua, West Indies with the Champions for Health Promoting Schools Program to teach life skills through health and physical education to elementary school children. She gained a love for teaching others and learned how to maintain a positive and fun environment while teaching.
Still continuing to push out of her comfort zone, Alyssa has taken up rock climbing as well as roller hockey, even making the roster for the 2017 Team Canada women’s team. Alyssa is an excellent member of the team and pushes members continuously to new heights!

Alex Ferguson
During his undergraduate career, he pursued a bachelor of science in Biomedical Physiology at SFU with the intention of applying to medical school. It was at this time that Alex found his passion for weightlifting. Since he wasn’t as involved in organized sports as he once was, he took himself through a variety of training programs from calisthenics to bodybuilding to powerlifting in order to keep his fitness in check. He was on track to compete in his first BCPA (BC Powerlifting Association) meet until a knee injury set him back.
Having dealt with a variety of injuries along the way, Alex became particularly interested in how exercise and human movement can be manipulated to rehabilitate said injuries. It was at this point that he decided to pursue the academic realms of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy. Alex volunteered with local Physical Therapists and successfully applied to be a practicing Kinesiologist through the BACK (BC Association of Kinesiologists).
At Vaughan’s, Alex promotes health and fitness through sustainable lifestyle changes. He also wants to rehabilite injuries with correct movement, rather than more invasive measures.
